Developed by Harvard Scientists, CoolSculpting® was FDA approved in 2010 and has been used in more than 1.5 million treatments around the globe since that date. The process by which the CoolSculpting® System freezes fat cells ensures that no other tissues or structures in the treatment area are damaged in the process. Only the fat cells are damaged, then they are naturally eliminated over time by means of the body’s natural waste removal processes. Other than the possibility of some local and temporary tenderness, sensitivity, swelling, and/or numbness, which occur in a small percentage of patients, there are no other expected side effects, long or short- term from the procedure.
