When should I get BOTOX?
You’ve probably heard a lot about the world’s most popular non-surgical cosmetic medical treatment BOTOX Cosmetic. Approved by the FDA in 2002, BOTOX is the trade name for Botulinum toxin and works by temporarily relaxing the contraction of muscles in the areas where it has been injected. Once the muscles relax, the wrinkles they cause do too. Most commonly, Botox is used to eliminate crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines. It can also be used to produce a beautiful brow lift and even minimize neck wrinkles and lip lines.
If you would like to have a smooth forehead, get rid of that pinched look between your eyebrows (a.k.a. the glabella), soften wrinkles at the corners of your eyes or generally remove any other signs of squinting that stick around even when your eyes are wide open, BOTOX offers an ideal solution. In fact, BOTOX will help keep you from future squint lines, so whether you already have deep lines or you can barely see them starting, it could be the right time. Early BOTOX treatments could even slow down the aging process by keeping your fine lines from developing into creases. Results of a BOTOX injection typically last three to four months, so plan to get a touch-up about three times per year.
The important thing is to find an experienced injector who will be able to help you achieve a very natural look. In some states, only medical doctors, nurse practitioners and physicians assistants are legally permitted to administer BOTOX. This is not something you want to price shop for. When it comes to your face, you certainly don’t want any surprises.
