Millennials: Changing the Face of Injectables

Millennials Changing the Face of BOTOX

If you think BOTOX® Cosmetic is for baby boomers, think again. The selfie-loving generation is changing the face of injectable treatments.

According to a survey conducted by RealSelf, 51% of people ages 18 to 34 are considering a cosmetic procedure in the next year. With little downtime and quick treatments, BOTOX is a great first-time choice for Tampa-area millennials who want to look naturally refreshed, while also preventing future wrinkles.

Why Millennials Love It

One of the reasons why BOTOX is popular among millennials is because many millennials are entering their mid to late-30s, which is just in time for dynamic wrinkles to appear. Dynamic wrinkles are those that are caused by smiling, squinting, and frowning. Over time, these repetitive facial movements etch lines into your skin that don’t go away when your face is at rest. The result is crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and other smile or laugh lines.

BOTOX helps smooth dynamic wrinkles by relaxing the muscles responsible for facial expression lines. This makes you look more rested and rejuvenated and has very minor side effects. At our med spa, the most common side effects after BOTOX injections include redness, soreness, and light bruising at the injection site, most of which disappear within a few hours or days.

Millennials also love BOTOX because they see it as part of a healthy routine that includes self-care, rather than as vanity. In fact, millennials are much more likely to post before-and-after photos of themselves or share their experience on social media because they don’t attach a stigma to “having work done.” Instead, they simply want to look and feel their best.

Prevention and Treatment

BOTOX treatments are a fast, reliable, and affordable way to soften the look of wrinkles. BOTOX takes only 15 to 30 minutes to perform, and you are free to return to your normal routine right away. Millennials also appreciate the instant gratification BOTOX provides because the final results appear quickly within just a few days (usually around 2 to 10). The results are also long-lasting and most of our patients enjoy their new look for 3 to 4 months before needing a touch-up treatment.

In addition to younger-looking skin, BOTOX may also help prolong wrinkle formation over time. That’s because BOTOX prevents you from making the facial expressions that cause lines to develop in the first place. The combination of prevention and treatment is one of the reasons millennials love BOTOX.

A Continuing Trend

Over the last decade, BOTOX has continued to climb in popularity. Statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons® show that botulinum toxin type A injections like BOTOX are the most popular minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure in the United States. In 2017, botulinum toxin type A injections accounted for 7.23 million of the 15.7 million minimally invasive procedures performed in America (a 2% increase from 2016).

At Radiance Medspa, BOTOX is one of the most common facial rejuvenation treatments we perform. And while it’s highly popular among millennials, the range of BOTOX users is wide. Men and women of various ages, skin tones, and skin types can usually benefit. So, if you’re curious about what BOTOX might do for you, give it a try.
